USCG Venturous
This project focused on preserving helicopter landing and operating decks, ensuring compliance with strict safety and durability standards.
Work Performed:
-
Protective Measures:
All necessary protections were put in place to safeguard surrounding structures and equipment during the work. -
Interference Management:
Interferences were removed to provide a clear and safe workspace. -
Visual Landing Aid (VLA) and Safety Markings:
A detailed sketch was prepared to guide the accurate placement of all visual aids and safety markings. -
Containment and Environmental Control:
Proper containment and ambient condition controls were maintained throughout the process. -
Coatings Supply:
High-performance coatings compliant with MIL-PRF-24667 standards were provided to ensure optimal results.
Preservation Process:
Inspection services were conducted by a NACE-certified representative to uphold quality and compliance. Non-skid and primer coatings were stripped down to bare metal using ultra-high-pressure hydroblasting. Abrasive blasting with sponge media was used to achieve a near-white metal finish and the required surface profile.
Spent blast media was cleared, and the deck underwent a final cleaning to prepare for coatings application. Waterways and cutouts were carefully marked and taped according to the project specifications. Epoxy, non-skid, and topcoat layers were applied to the prepared surfaces, creating a durable and protective finish.
Finally, visual landing aids and safety markings were applied in alignment with the project requirements.
